Jennifer Ellis FRICS

Jennifer leads our Leasehold Reform team. She is one of the most respected expert valuers in the leasehold reform field and unusually amongst the top echelon she has given evidence to the Lands Tribunal and to Leasehold Valuation Tribunals (LVTs) for both landlords and tenants.

Jennifer specialises in the analysis of complex property valuation problems and has pioneered techniques to value intermediate landlord's interests. She is the author of two chapters in "Statutory Valuations" (Baum and Sams) on the Leasehold Reform Act, assisted editing of the 4th edition of "Hague on Leasehold Reform" and is one of the joint authors of the RICS Valuation Information Paper on the subject. She has lectured widely.

Jennifer has been a Chartered Surveyor since 1972 and became a Fellow in 1984. She joined Langley-Taylor as a partner in 1995. Prior to that, she was a Director of Caws and Morris and, before that, was with Debenham Tewson & Chinnocks (predecessor to DTZ Debenham Tie Leung) for 18 years.

On the commercial property side, Jennifer has long experience acting in the valuation, Landlord and Tenant and management fields. She also gives consultancy advice on strategic management and development. She has represented Lincoln's Inn and Gray's Inn, as well as local authority, corporate and private clients. Jennifer has managed property, given evidence and advice on service charge issues.

Jennifer has a close interest in dispute resolution and forensic valuation. Apart from her expert witness work, she has been on the RICS President's Panel of arbitrators.

Jennifer is a trustee of LionHeart (the RICS' benevolent fund).
